*Once your child has settled into their academic routines, we can help them prepare for their road test. Allow us to customize a plan that is right for your family
**If you intend on obtaining a Connecticut drivers license, and then convert it to your home state, we can help your child obtain their CT learners permit by suggesting preferred study materials and then driving them to their permit test site in either Enfield or Cheshire when they are prepared and ready.
Enrolling in an 8-hour drug and alcohol safety class with weekend, Sunday programming, and with classes conducted virtually, may be the most efficient way towards obtaining their license. This is an 8-hour zoom classroom program (the CT drug & alcohol safety class). By completing this course in as few as two, 4-hour Sunday sessions, students will fulfil the state requirement. If the student is under 18 years of age, and has only taken the 8 hour class, then a parent must be present at the time of their road test to sign on their behalf. The CT DMV will not accept a parental consent form for the road test, they will accept it for the learners permit test though. This rule would not appy if a student is 18 or older, or if the under age teen was enrolled in a full 30 hour curriculum, as their driving instructor will be allowed to sign for the student. Teens taking the 8 hour program are required to hold a learners permit for 6 months prior to taking the road test. ( 4 months with a full 30 hour program )
If a student plans to take their licensing exam in another state, then they would not need to strive for the 8-hour class for the certificate as it will not earn them the credit for their home state. However, students would still benefit from the practice time that wil count towards their practice record, with private behind the wheel lessons, even if they intend to get their license in another state. Driving lessons may be scheduled on weekdays as well, according to the school and the student's availability. Once the 8-hour program is completed, I will issue the CS-1 certificate of completion. However, teens taking the 8 hour program are required to hold a learners permit for 6 months prior to taking the road test. The state of CT also requires that teens have a minimum total of 40 hours of behind the wheel training prior to taking the licensing exam. Once licensed in CT, they can then go to their states DMV to convert the CT license to one that is of their home state. Please check with your local DMV prior to enrolling so you may fully understand their process.
